Sony Ericsson: first quarter sales down 50%
The bosses at Sony Ericsson just can’t seem to catch a break. Following the rumors of a split between the the two companies, the joint ventures bosses warned investors that first quarter sales are down some 50 percent. There are fears that this could lead to loses of around $500 million. Sony Ericsson posted a $247 million loss in the last quarter. Aworsening economic crisis and weak consumer demand is being blamed for the losses. Add that to the fact that Sony Ericsson has a week offering in the lucrative smartphone market and you can get a rough idea of how bad things are for the outfit.
Maybe the divorce between Sony and Ericsson is not such a bad idea after all.
